EASL, the UK specialist in structural integrity for civil nuclear, has been awarded a framework agreement with EDF Energy (TSO) Limited for the provision of professional services.

The contract, signed earlier this year, will be renewed annually and is structured to remain valid until the end of 2024. This framework agreement enables EASL to provide specialised engineering services to any EDF Energy owned entities including nuclear generation (NG), new nuclear build (NNB), Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C.

EASL has been working with EDF Energy (previously British Energy) on the current UK nuclear fleet and on new build projects for over 20 years.  This new agreement consolidates EASL’s position as a trusted supplier to NG and HPC and extends their niche services to a wider audience within EDF Energy.  With an option for future extensions, EASL are able to cover all design, analysis and assessment disciplines, including but not limited to design substantiation, life extension, hazards, regulatory compliance, expert review and degradation review.

This framework is clear evidence of EDF Energy’s trust and reliance on small and medium enterprises, like EASL, to complement their supply chain by providing continuous support as well as helping to nurture nuclear engineering specialists in the UK.

Antony Hurst, EASL’s Managing Director, says:

”Our commitment to EDF Energy’s projects in the UK is clear.  We have been providing our services for over 30 years and we hope to continue doing so for many more years to come.  We bring our extensive nuclear experience and specific niche expertise on structural integrity design, analysis and assessment as well as a shared vision to deliver a greener future for the next generation and beyond.’’
